The Department of Cultural Heritage Management and New Technologies of the University of Patras was founded in 2004 and admitted its first students in the academic year 2004-2005 .

The curriculum matches the aims of the Foundation Law 3255 which came into force with Gov. Desicion 138A/22.07.2004 and describing as purposes of the Department as follows :

  • To support and promote knowledge on cultural heritage and its management .
  • To provide students with the necessary skills to ensure a professional career in the sector of Greek cultural heritage and Cultural Heritage of Mediterranean countries.

The training provides: promotion, dissemination and exploitation of cultural resources, efficient management and economic exploitation towards the achievement of an integrated system of cultural management in Greece and modern arts planning and management with the use of new technologies .

The department of Cultural Heritage Management and New Technologies promotes the development of skills in interdisciplinary areas , seeking convergence of management studies, cultural heritage, new technologies. Research spans the fields of cultural resources and information technologies posing employment prospects.

The degree awarded is determined by the directions:

a) Management of Cultural Resources, and
b ) Cultural Informatics .

The mandatory minimum length of study leading to a degree is defined in eight (8) semesters .
